"I can't believe that at my age, I still don't have money figured out."
If you've thought this, there's good news.
You can feel confident, capable, and in control of your finances – regardless of your stage of life.
We're hosting Own What's Next, an in-person, women-only event in Ottawa on
November 21st and 22nd.
This is a welcoming, judgement-free space where you can feel comfortable talking about your finances while we help you put the missing pieces in place for your money.
It doesn't matter where you're at or what your net worth is. We'll all be there to work on the same pieces in a safe space.
Arrive uncertain about your money. Leave saying, "I've got this."
How many times have you thought about your spending and wondered if you'll be able to maintain it throughout retirement when your paycheque is no longer coming in? Then you wondered,
"Will I have to work a lot more years before I can hand in my notice? Can I even afford to retire?"
Think about the last time you met up with girlfriends, and someone was excitedly talking about her upcoming month-long trip. And while you're happy for her, you have questions floating in the back of your mind:
"Would I be able to pull off a trip like that without setting myself back with more credit card debt?"
Or rewind to your most recent milestone birthday when you looked at the number on the cake and it kind of shocked you. While everyone was singing "Happy Birthday" your mind was stuck on how quickly time is passing and
the gap between where you thought you'd be "by now" with your finances versus your reality.
Those thoughts and worries are starting to wear on you, and the clock seems to be ticking louder with each passing month.
What if you were where you wanted to be at this stage?
How would it feel to know that your money's there for you to live the life you want, right now and throughout retirement?
To know that you're on top of your money instead of wondering if you'll have enough or where it disappeared to?
And being able to focus on the things you love without stressing about your finances?
Fantastic, right?
But right now, you're not sure. Deep down, you're worried you might have left it too late.
You've done some great things with your life. You've built a career, maybe raised a family, managed a household, and handled all the things — the bills, the social schedule, the travel details, the pet sitter.
But money is the one place that hasn't gotten your full attention yet.
You want to be the woman
who is on top of her finances, makes financial decisions with confidence, and knows that her future is secure…
… and you have no idea how to get there.
You know you have to do something and you definitely want to get on top of your finances, but you don't know where to start. And that leaves you feeling a bit stuck.
That changes for you in November.
We'll give you the answers, the starting point, and the system you need.
Let's be honest here. It's not just about getting to a point where you make financial decisions confidently or having a system in place to grow your wealth. It's really about having options and choice - so you can travel the world whenever you want, do the renos you've been dreaming of, support causes that are near and dear to your heart, and make more memories with the people you love.
Or even just making decisions without always having to think, and worry, about money.
A weekend for women ready to feel confident, capable, and in control of their financial future.
This two-day live event is designed to give you the blueprint and support you need to get you from "I'm not where I want to be with my money" to being a wealth builder who has great options.
You want to take a month-long trip to Thailand? You go without a second thought.
You wish you could hand in your notice and enroll in the Master's Program you've been dreaming of? Done.
You long for more time off to spend with the people you love, especially those who live far away? You take the time.
When you set yourself up to be free to live the life you want, you can follow your heart.
Paying off debt builds your net worth. When I first heard Doris say that years ago, I thought it was B.S. But it works! Doris's process works. You don't understand it until you do the work and see the growth. My net worth grew more than 88% in five years thanks to her courses and coaching.
This is not a tips-and-tricks workshop, and it isn't a cocktails-and-inspiration girls' getaway either.
It's roll-up-your-sleeves work, done in a room with other women who are right where you are.
It's the kind of work that doesn't happen from a book, a podcast, or a YouTube video. You simply can't replace the energy and support you feel when you're surrounded by a room full of kindred spirits who want the same thing you do: the freedom to choose and shape your future.
Own What's Next is built on a simple belief:
Money isn't a solo sport. Clarity comes faster with the right guidance in the right space.
The weekend is designed to balance financial knowledge and expertise in a small group coaching format for those who want a one-on-one coaching experience without the expense.
You'll arrive with money questions you've been wondering about for years. You'll leave with answers to all those questions, a written 90-day plan, a community that supports you, and clarity on how to get what you want from your finances.
If you’ve ever wished...
...For a place where you can finally talk about money honestly, ask the questions you've been wondering about for ages, get clear answers and be met with understanding instead of judgement from people who get you...
...You could feel relaxed and good about your finances instead of overwhelmed. To make choices freely without the constant background hum of "can I even afford this?" or "am I going to be okay?"
...You had access to someone who understands your particular situation and can cut through the noise to tell you what will work for you, instead of generic "save more and invest wisely" advice you see everywhere...
Own What's Next was made for you..
What the weekend looks like
Over the weekend, you'll move through three stages:
Uncover
The money beliefs and stories you inherited, examined honestly, without blame.
Shift
The identity transformation from someone who manages money to someone who grows it.
Commit
A concrete 90-day plan and the guidance to make it happen.
Led by Doris Belland, financial coach to women for 18 years, and Bona Normandeau — an empowerment coach and Doris's very first client. She is living proof of what this weekend is designed to start. And you'll do all of it inside a room that holds one non-negotiable promise:
No Shame. No Blame. No Judgement.
You'll move from where you are now — avoidance, uncertainty, questions without answers — to a version of yourself who has looked clearly, shifted how she thinks, and committed to something concrete.
Here's what we'll cover
Your Money Story
You didn't arrive at your relationship with money out of nowhere. This is where you trace it — where it started, what it taught you, the impact it's had on your life, and what you're ready to leave behind - so that you can eliminate the blocks that are holding you back.
The Beliefs Running the Show
You'll identify your unspoken money beliefs and start testing whether they're true. Beliefs are data from the past. They aren't instructions for the future. It's time to install beliefs that enable you to achieve your financial goals.
How to Become a Wealth Builder
A Wealth Builder isn't a personality type, nor is it reserved for people with finance degrees. It's a way of thinking about money that changes how you make decisions — from reactive to intentional - and which actions you take. This is the shift that makes everything else possible. We'll help you shift into being a wealth builder so you can create the life you want, free of money stress.
Your Values and Your Wealth
What is your money actually for - security, freedom, choice, a retirement you look forward to? You'll connect your financial decisions to what matters most to you, so the plan that follows has a reason behind it, not just a target. This is the way to get lasting results with your money instead of procrastinating or bailing when life gets difficult. A system is only useful to you if you can maintain it. We'll show you how.
Demystifying Investing
Investing is the primary building block for wealth growers. We'll take a look, in plain English, at what evidence-based investing involves. No jargon, no assumption you should already know this, no making you feel silly for asking. You'll know enough to make it feel understandable and doable, so you can finally learn how to grow your wealth.
Live Coaching
Throughout the weekend, Doris will provide coaching to help you understand your situation more deeply, identify your next steps, and move past blocks. There will also be hot-seat coaching where the whole room learns. Coaching will help you get faster results and breakthroughs.
Your Wealth Builder Plan
This is where insight turns into action. With our guidance, you'll build a concrete, sequenced plan based on where you are now, so you know where to start and what to do next. When you get home, you'll be ready to tackle your financial goals right away.

Doris's money system and her coaching have been a huge part of turning my life around. She is the exact kind of cheerleader that I need in my life to stay on track towards a new way of being. She also has the ability to challenge me to push myself in a motivating way.
The identity piece is the missing link.
When you feel that you're not where you want to be with your finances, it's easy to assume that you need to do more things like:
- Tracking
- Reviewing your bank and credit card statements
- Clamping down on your spending
- Putting money into your TFSA or RRSP (even though you don't really know what to do with that money once it's in the account)
- Talking sternly to yourself about how you're going to be more disciplined and not procrastinate for now on
But no amount of "doing" is going to do the trick. Because what you're experiencing isn't fundamentally a doing problem. It's an identity problem.
Eighteen years ago, when I first started helping people solve their financial challenges, I would roll up my sleeves right along with them and create a complete to-do list...
... after having analyzed every inch of their finances.
I gave them a to-do plan, told them what to eliminate, how much more to save, and how to pay off their debt.
And I held their hand every step of the way to keep them on track.
And at first, it worked. They paid off all their debt, saved thousands of dollars, and built excellent credit scores. Job done.
Or so I thought.
What I eventually realized was that their results weren't sticking even though they had done all the so-called "right" things. Six months after we stopped working together, they were reverting back to their old patterns.
The missing piece was their money identity, which showed up in their beliefs, the way they talked about money, and the things they assumed were impossible for them.
Until you address your money identity and the ways in which it may be holding you back, achieving your financial goals will be very difficult, if not impossible.
I have spent the last fifteen years developing a duplicatable process to help you create an empowering money identity, then put in place a proven system to grow your wealth.
Now, I want to share this process and these systems with you.
Doris's courses changed so much for me. I went from living in ignorance and fear about my financial situation to taking charge and feeling totally empowered and in control. The benefits also extend far beyond your finances. Doris has the professional experience and expertise, and the personality and people skills that I trust and need. I have not seen this holistic approach to finances and building financial freedom elsewhere. It is very empowering and the only way that this journey feels authentic and sustainable for me.
So how will we make this happen for you?
Reserve your spot at Own What's Next and access the support and guidance you need!
From the moment you walk in Saturday morning to the moment you leave Sunday afternoon, you'll be actively supported - by experts, by a room full of women on the same journey, and by a structure designed to make sure you don't just learn things, you change things.
Here's what that looks like.
Live coaching
Doris coaches live throughout both days, answering questions as they come up, responding to what's happening in the room, and helping you connect the content to your situation. The coaching will move you from "I think I understand" to "I know exactly what I'm doing next."
Hot-seat coaching
Several women will have the opportunity for deep-dive, one-on-one coaching with Doris at the front of the room. Even if you're watching from your seat, you'll see parts of yourself in those conversations. The fears being named, the blocks being addressed, and the questions being answered - they're almost always ones you recognize. You don't have to be in the hot seat to walk away changed by it.
Specially designed exercises
Some of the best moments of the weekend will happen mid-exercise, when the room erupts in laughter or someone says out loud the exact thing you've been thinking for years. We've designed each exercise to do three things: break the ice so you feel comfortable fast, surface insights that surprise you, and remind you that you are not alone in this. Expect a lot of "wait, you too?!" moments.
Guided reflection
Information without integration evaporates. That's why guided journaling is woven throughout the weekend as a tool that helps you slow down long enough to hear what the content means for you. It doesn't matter if you've never journaled a day in your life or fill notebooks every month, you'll leave with captured insights you can apply Monday morning.
New connections who get it
You'll spend the weekend alongside women who showed up for the same reasons you did. By Sunday afternoon, the conversations you've had over lunch, during breaks, and in the work itself will have turned strangers into kindred spirits. The connections you'll make in the room will last well beyond the weekend.
A fully taken-care-of experience
We'll provide two catered lunches, plus coffee, tea, and snacks throughout both days. You have nothing to organize and worry about. You just show up and stay present. We know you typically juggle fourteen balls at a time. This weekend, we're going to hold onto many of those for you so you can free up mental energy and focus on you.
Your Wealth Builder Workbook and 90-Day Plan
The workbook will guide you through every session and become your personal reference long after the weekend ends. Sunday afternoon, you'll complete your 90-day Wealth Builder Plan so you can hit the ground running the moment you get home. You won't just leave with inspiration; you'll leave with a plan.
Save Your Spot Before They Sell Out
We created Own What's Next to help women just like you get on top of their finances and create the life they want.
Doris Belland
Hey, I'm Doris, founder of Your Financial Launchpad and co-creator of Own What's Next.
I know what it's like to feel uncertain about your financial future and to lack confidence, especially when it comes to investments. I've been there.
I've worked as a financial coach and educator for 18 years, but I came to this work the hard way.
In my twenties, I was on track to become a professor. I had a prestigious scholarship to complete my doctoral studies at McGill University, but my life changed completely when my first husband's cancer returned with a vengeance. I ended up walking away from my bright academic future to help him and to run his business.
He died when I was 32. I was left with $400,000 in debt, mostly from his business. Even though I am a Type A person who is supposedly on top of my finances, I was not prepared for the financial mess I had inherited. It just about broke me.
Three weeks after his death, I hit a key moment when I realized that the debt would either sink me or I could pick myself up and figure it out.
I leaned on my research skills and created a plan to address the debt, which I paid it off in two years. I spent the next decade turning what I'd figured out — through research, trial, and a lot of hard lessons — into an evidence-based system that works for any woman, at any starting point.
I used that system to create a multi-seven-figure portfolio.
I'm tired of seeing so many women struggle with their finances and feel overwhelmed or uncertain about the future. It's so unnecessary!
That's why I created a money system grounded in research, behavioural economics, and how to build wealth sustainably.
And during the Own What's Next weekend, I'll get to do what I love most of all: connecting with a room full of women, in person, and helping you shift the way you think about money the results you get from money.
I've personally helped hundreds of women become wealthy and confident, with great options at their disposal. Now I want to help you.
I can't wait to meet you!
Bona Normandeau
Hi, I'm Bona.
I was Doris's original client.
We met at our children's preschool — two women in tiny chairs who immediately hit it off and became good friends.
I read Doris's book and it made me furious. My first thought was, "I'm 40 years old. How do I not know this stuff?" My second thought was, "Hold on. I'm ONLY 40."
That's when I got to work transforming my approach to money.
I've taken essentially every program Doris ever created. When Doris hosted her first in-person event, I flew back from the U.S. to be there.
I went from not understanding investing to managing my own investments. I jokingly call myself "the original Doris protégée" but underneath the joke, it's true.
I know what it feels like to realize there's a lot you don't know, and I know what's on the other side of doing something about it. Today I understand my investments, I know where my money goes, and I don't feel like a passenger in my own financial life anymore. My husband and I are also financially free.
Professionally, I'm an empowerment coach and journaling facilitator. I bring the tools that help you sit with what comes up and turn insight into something you can apply to make the work land and stick.
I believe so strongly in Doris's work because I'm not standing on the outside telling women it works. I lived it.
I want other women to have that moment I had: 'Wait a second. I'm not too late. I can do this.'
Doris is an amazing coach! Her 'no shame, no blame' philosophy helped put me at ease to face my finances. I finally uncovered and released some key subconscious beliefs that had been holding me back for years. I now feel more confident about how to manage and invest my money.
Questions you're probably wondering about.
Who is this weekend for?
It's for women who feel they aren't fully in control of their finances. They've done well in other areas of their lives, but they haven't yet tackled their finances the way they want to. This is not for women in financial crisis. It's for women who are ready to stop avoiding and have said to themselves, "I need to get this figured out." They know they want something different, but they don't know where to start. Start here.
Can a weekend actually change anything?
Most workshops produce inspiration that fades because they're information-heavy and action-light — insight with no structure to apply it.
Own What's Next is built around four concrete things you leave with:
- your Wealth Builder Statement,
- your written 90-day plan,
- a list of key insights to help you transform your finances,
- and a community who get you and will cheer you on from here.
VIP members also get a follow-up group coaching call after the event.
Yes, a weekend can make all the difference to your financial future.
I don't know you. How do I know this is worth my time and money?
Fair question. We wouldn't expect you to take it on faith. Doris has been doing this work for 18 years, with a methodology built on research, behavioural economics, and direct experience in helping thousands of women transform their relationship with money. You don't have to take her word alone for it. Bona, co-hosting this weekend with Doris, was her first client. She's not endorsing something she read about; she lived it, over years, and now manages her own investments with confidence. If you want to know more before committing, reach out directly to speak with Bona.
What if I don't know anything about money or investing?
No problem! You're absolutely welcome here. There are no prerequisites, nor do we assume any level of financial knowledge.
Why can't I just take an online course or read a book instead?
You absolutely can learn a lot from a book or an online course. But there's something different about carving out an entire weekend and saying, "I'm finally giving this my full attention."
At home, it's easy to get distracted, skip the exercise that feels uncomfortable, tell yourself you'll come back to it later (many don't) or simply let life take over.
At Own What's Next, you've protected the time. You've shown up and you're surrounded by other women who have decided to show up, too.
When one woman asks the question you were afraid to ask, it makes it easier to ask yours. When someone else is brave enough to look honestly at what's been holding her back, it gives you permission to do the same. You learn, reflect, journal, talk, listen and build your plan—with the energy and support of a room full of women doing it alongside you.
There's something powerful that happens when we give ourselves uninterrupted time to do the work and do it together.
You won't leave with a course you still need to finish.
You'll leave having done the work, with a plan in your hands and people in your corner.
Is it too late for me?
No. And Bona's story is a pretty good example of why. Whether you're 42, 52 or 62, there are things you can do today to strengthen your financial future. The point isn't to wish you'd started earlier; it's to decide what you're going to do from here.
Do I have to journal? I'm not a journaler.
You don't have to do anything. Write one word - or don't. Make a list. Doodle. Nobody checks your work. The reflection is for you, in whatever form works for you. Bona will guide you through the experience in a way that feels comfortable and doable.
What are the payment and refund options?
Because we're catering the lunches, we have to make a commitment based on the registrations. For that reason, we are unable to offer a refund. That said, we understand that things come up and plans change. If that happens, you can reassign your ticket to a friend. Simply call us and we'll make the switch.
"Is this event a good fit for me right now?"
It's a good fit if one of these is true for you...
You're ready to take control of your finances
You've been meaning to "figure it out" for longer than a year and somehow it keeps getting bumped by everything else on your list. But now, you're willing to make your money a priority.
You've experienced a triggering event
Maybe it was a milestone birthday, a retirement conversation with HR, a divorce, a number on a statement, and you thought, "I can't keep putting this off."
You don't know for sure you're on track for a secure retirement
You haven't run the numbers to map out your financial future. You open investment statements and only skim them without understanding them. You're not certain if you can sustain your current level of spending for the long run. Investing feels like something you know you should be doing more of, but it intimidates you, so you ignore it or had it over to someone else to look after.
You want to level up in life
You know there's so much more you want to do. You want the skills and knowledge to give you the freedom, choice, and peace of mind you long for.
But this isn't for you if...
You want someone else to handle your finances for you
This weekend is for women who want to understand and direct their own financial future, not hand it off. If what you're looking for is a professional to do it for you, take a pass on the event.
You're in the middle of a financial crisis
If you're currently unable to meet your basic financial needs, Own What's Next isn't the right next step. We'd encourage you to set up a clarity call with Doris to talk about options and to come back to the event when things have stabilized.
You're looking for quick tips
This weekend goes well beyond a checklist, tips, and hacks. It's for women who are ready for the deeper work. If you want something quick to try on your own, this won't fit the bill.
The Own What's Next Weekend gives you the skills, steps, and support you need to become a confident wealth builder
Being at the weekend event will be like having Doris sit next to you at your kitchen table pinpointing where you need to focus, mapping out your financial next steps, and helping you move past the obstacles from your past that may be holding you back.
The feeling we want for you is to be surrounded by like-minded women in a space where you get to voice your thoughts, dreams, worries, and concerns about your finances with zero judgement. We're not kidding when we say we want you to come out of the weekend saying, "I've got this." And you will.
You deserve to feel solid in your own financial life and to know that your future is secure. We'll show you how to get there.
But don't wait to grab your seat because space is genuinely limited. Secure your spot today.
You Can't Afford to Stay Where You Are
The stress and the uncertainty won't go away on their own. You won't wake up in ten years and magically be financially free, enjoying the kind of life you dream about now.
Nor will you suddenly be ready for the retirement that's looming.
The thing about putting off dealing with your finances is that years disappear in a heartbeat and then you find yourself looking in the mirror and thinking, "I should have tackled this years ago. Now I'm scrambling."
And all that time has cost you a small fortune in lost money and growth.
Now imagine having the support, tool, and plan you need to grow your wealth? Within one weekend, you'll have that.
Here's the thing: Financial peace of mind is something you develop one small step at a time. The first step is to get the help and guidance you need.

We are confident that you will walk away from this weekend excited and clear about your finances and your future, saying "I've got this!" And who knows, maybe you'll even walk away with a bestie like we did all those years ago when we sat on those impossibly small chairs in our kids' pre-kindergarten class.
What you'll discover when you get in a room with us is that wherever we are, there is laughter, warmth, a safe space, and memorable experiences.
You don't need to arrive with confidence or with your finances in order. You just need to arrive. We'll take it from there and do everything we can to get you the kind of transformation Bona experienced years ago.
Space is limited and we'd love to have you with us. Don't let another year go by with the same questions and the same uncertainty. November is closer than you think - and so is "I've got this."
We can't wait to meet you.
With warmth and excitement,
Doris & Bona
